Do you have an Airtel Connection? then i hope you are also frustrated of the Airtel Advertisement SMSs that comes and litters you Inbox. Many times customers get sms which requests to subscribe to some Airtel service by sending a toll free SMS. Often the  Customer is Airtel illiterate and subscribes(knowingly or unknowingly) to the service without using it,finally to get rid of the service ,gets a new connection dropping the old one. For your kind information I once boasted that I am enough literate about all Airtel services,GPRS,WAP, Net2Phone,Mobile Office .But unfortunately I was wrong. I am also Airtel illiterate.

So it Started like this…One fine morning my 7610 shouts “You have got an SMS”

If you just open the message(at least only for reading,yes mind it ..only for reading even don’t need to click on the URL)  then you get subscribed to some NUT for NET (or Whatever)service  and Airtel deducts Rs 15 often(may be once in every 2 days or may be once in every 2 minutes).After every Deduction it sends the message

Called Airtel Customer Care . According to them i have used some WAP service. As it was the first time I just gave a damn to the WAP service and my 15 bucks.

thus Airtel deducted 30 bucks again.

Called Airtel Customer Care. Some Mr Dipankar was talking to me

yeah this time its the daily subscription charges of that f***ing WAP service.

“Please Un subscribe me from the service and I want my 45 Rs back”

” no Sir we cannot return the 45 Rs but we can Un subscribe you from the service”

“Yes please do so……and keep in mind if i again get charged of Rs 15 I will take action”

” no Sir this wont occur again…..Thank you for calling to Airtel..Have a good day”

Same Service Inbox message on 21/08/2008 at 4:44 PM and 4:45 PM(I haven’t read both the messages. May be if i read they will start deducting 15+15=Rs 30 more per day from me) and a text message from 543210

And the same Text message about deduction of 15 more bucks from my fucking Airtel balance at 2:14 PM on 22/08/2008
Readers can you suggest me what to do next.

As usual i called them again and this time i asked for a conversion with Mr Dipankar. Regrettably he was not there at that time.

So I had to start my love story(with Airtel :x ) again from the starting day. Finally the person assured me that 

he has sent a request for unsubsription to that WAP service. Also I asked them about Airtel DND service.

“…….for Subscribing to Airtel DND servie you need to send text START DND to 1909 and its toll free…..Thank you for calling to Airtel..Have a good day”

I had a balance of Rs 0.75.I tried to send that SMS but failed .I remember he said 1909 is a toll free no.
Well Thank you for you kind attention to this love story with my fucking Airtel connection. Can you please suggest me 

some way to get rid of this daily business of Rs 15. All your Ideas are welcome in advance.

however please keep in mind. please don’t suggest me to take a new connection. I cannot do so.
And if any one suggest me to complain at Consumer forum (or Whatever) I have a detailed log of all the SMS Ads,GPRS uses(which i haven’t used for the last three months). 

I hope those log files can help.
A kind request to Mr. Dipankar …If you are reading this please gimme back my 60 bucks.

I am a Vodafone loyalist, but I guess you could try shifting to Postpaid connection. Going to the consumer redressal forum might help, but it would be a long drawn process and you might end up spending more.

What you can do is, write to editors of some newspapers. Let people know the evil business of Airtel. Also, do send a mail to the consumer care of Airtel and threaten them of going to the media if they dont comply soon.

And if possible, ditch Airtel. Voda ROXXX :)

I have the same problem with my Airtel connection. They have deducted at least Rs 90 from my account till now. Multiple calls to Airtel to deactivate the service have fallen on deaf ears. I have the lowest end Nokia cell which does not support any wap or anything. Still they continue to deduct this amount. They are telling me on the face that they will not deactivate it.

I am sure other people are also facing this harassment at the hands of Airtel. Let us get together and ask for an explanation and maybe even compensation.

Regarding this problem one of my friend one suggested me to….
Call the Customer service no and just ask them to forward their call
to their “Team Leader” and repeat the whole story followed by a last
warning of complaining to the Consumer forum.
I think this may work. But I have already taken a new connection from
Tata Indicom. As I still have my old connection active.And I am always
ready to take some against this nonsense service from Airtel. Do you
have any idea about how to complain at the Consumer forum so that the
complain finally works out ?

very very thanks for given me such knowldge of sms2.0. Last year i got airtel cut Rs:249/ for GPRS before 30 dayes. I try to get back amount but not succed. Than i mailed the issue to my friend circule.They decide they swap airtel to anather one. After few days airtel called me for such a big mistake and repuest us to don’t live airtel, also they given me a month free gprs. Sir can u did something like this.

The hopeless service, Airtel really sucks… Their response towards customer is very poor, since two months i have repeatedly complaining for daily double deduction of money for gprsmo from my balance, but nobody can solve my problem, such a useless people those who are working there from hot line to call center and call center to upper managing directer level.

I am being harassed by airtel guys for the past 6 months and absolutely no one in airtel is ready to help despite several mails, phone calls, visits to airtel offices, etc. Bharti Airtel, which claims to having the best telephone network and customer service in India, in reality probably has the worst customer service.
