Do you have an Airtel Connection? then i hope you are also frustrated of the Airtel Advertisement SMSs that comes and litters you Inbox. Many times customers get sms which requests to subscribe to some Airtel service by sending a toll free SMS. Often the Customer is Airtel illiterate and subscribes(knowingly or unknowingly) to the service without using it,finally to get rid of the service ,gets a new connection dropping the old one. For your kind information I once boasted that I am enough literate about all Airtel services,GPRS,WAP, Net2Phone,Mobile Office .But unfortunately I was wrong. I am also Airtel illiterate.
So it Started like this…One fine morning my 7610 shouts “You have got an SMS”

If you just open the message(at least only for reading,yes mind it ..only for reading even don’t need to click on the URL) then you get subscribed to some NUT for NET (or Whatever)service and Airtel deducts Rs 15 often(may be once in every 2 days or may be once in every 2 minutes).After every Deduction it sends the message

“Yes please do so……and keep in mind if i again get charged of Rs 15 I will take action”

Same Service Inbox message on 21/08/2008 at 4:44 PM and 4:45 PM(I haven’t read both the messages. May be if i read they will start deducting 15+15=Rs 30 more per day from me) and a text message from 543210

Readers can you suggest me what to do next.
As usual i called them again and this time i asked for a conversion with Mr Dipankar. Regrettably he was not there at that time.
So I had to start my love story(with Airtel
) again from the starting day. Finally the person assured me that
he has sent a request for unsubsription to that WAP service. Also I asked them about Airtel DND service.
“…….for Subscribing to Airtel DND servie you need to send text START DND to 1909 and its toll free…..Thank you for calling to Airtel..Have a good day”
I had a balance of Rs 0.75.I tried to send that SMS but failed .I remember he said 1909 is a toll free no.
Well Thank you for you kind attention to this love story with my fucking Airtel connection. Can you please suggest me
some way to get rid of this daily business of Rs 15. All your Ideas are welcome in advance.
however please keep in mind. please don’t suggest me to take a new connection. I cannot do so.
And if any one suggest me to complain at Consumer forum (or Whatever) I have a detailed log of all the SMS Ads,GPRS uses(which i haven’t used for the last three months).
I hope those log files can help.
A kind request to Mr. Dipankar …If you are reading this please gimme back my 60 bucks.
